My work is based in traditional oil painting. My preferred subject is the human body and so portraiture and figure studies have always featured heavily in my work.

I find the human body and in particular the face fascinating and an infinite quarry from which to work. Capturing a likeness is not a priority and though it is always satisfying my main priority is to recreate on the canvas the form and colour I see.

My undergraduate degree was not in Fine Art and so I am not a seasoned painter. My challenge has been working with the oil paint itself. I am intrigued by the actual substance, the flow of movement, how the different colours react, mix and mingle. Seeing an image develop will keep painting alive for me. There are endless ways of working to explore, which will continue to challenge and excite.

The future is open. I wish to practice as a working artist in the UK or elsewhere in the world.
