For me, the process of painting functions as a way to creating a particular environment that conducts a story, and exploring how these places can consume the subject and digest it . I am interested in finding spaces inside images which can be used as a map to build new territories with the paint. The subjects I use in my paintings derive from personal sources or experiences of certain locations, and these reflect what interests me about culture; the human condition, hunting, the environment, ornaments & preservation. It is important to me that I explore ways in which paint can reveal or arouse some element within the subject; as both a physical experience of paint on a surface and also opening up different interpretations of meaning.

Since September 2005, I have been developing my practice outside of my home country, most recently at residencies in Cyprus, Greenland and Iceland. In January 2008 I will be spending 10 weeks at a residency in Norway.
