Porthmadog, Wales The inspiration for my work derives from a subconscious affinity with nature and a sense of the organic. The work investigates the internal rhythms and images found within nature, sexuality and the human emotion. Drawing is always the initial basis for all my work, in particular line drawing where I study things that I have seen and found. I am attracted to absurd forms and things that are often missed in nature. These drawings echo scientific and biological representations of nature, and they lend themselves to my sculptures and installations. The work may seem slightly daunting and unnerving at the outset; forms seem to be growing and infesting. They are a mixture of real and intuitive ideas that combine to create these biomorphic forms. Through their exploration, the viewer will realize that these benign forms are also playful, fantastical and seductive, often creating some kind of escape, a type of quixotic sanctuary in which to take refuge from the modern world and its obligations.
