Cornwall, UK Mould making has become a major part of my work allowing me to make repeated forms using a variety of materials such as plastic, rubber, plaster, ceramic, glass, resin and for the first time concrete. Due to lack of technology, materials and tools at Lempa I have used alternative methods. I see Cyprus as a juxtaposition of the organic and the man made. The problematic plumbing led me to use pipes as moulds transforming them into repeated concrete cacti as a symbol of natural reproduction of the organic and over production of man made buildings consuming the organic, like a concrete jungle. At present I am experimenting casting concrete gourds. I find the resin moulds hold a beauty of their own. My skills have been gained studying Art and Design in Bristol, H.N.C Fine Art Camborne, Cornwall and finally a BA Hons in Contemporary Crafts at Falmouth in 2006. I have also had lots of fun working on group projects and running workshops including building kilns. On my return to the UK I am considering teacher training enabling me to teach part time alongside my own practice.
